Now accepting applications for summer/fall 2026!

Graylag Nature Preserve is located in Pittsfield, NH, about 20 miles east of Concord and 35 miles north of Manchester. It spans 300 acres of woodlands, meadows, and bogs, set on the 100-acre Wild Goose Pond. The preserve is crisscrossed by a network of trails, providing an opportunity for gentle walks or longer hikes through Graylag’s meadows and hilly, rocky terrain.

Artists are housed in The Perch, a small, private cabin with its own fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. This thoughtfully designed space features an open bedroom/workspace and a beautiful deck for reading, creating, or reflection. The bathroom houses a classic claw foot tub, and the cabin is well-appointed with bedding, towels, linens, dishes, and cooking equipment.

Graylag provides communal spaces, both indoors and out, where artists can interact with visitors or fellow guests. Nestled within the grounds are land art and sculptures, a peaceful waterfront, rich native gardens,  and two communal fire pits. Canoes, kayaks, and other watercraft are available for use on Wild Goose Pond. Residents are also welcome to participate in the weekly yoga classes offered at Graylag.

Food: Residents are responsible for purchasing and bringing their own food for the duration of their stay. While the residency provides a peaceful, self-sufficient retreat, grocery stores and other amenities are a short drive away.

Transportation: Residents will need to provide their own transportation and should note that public transportation and ride share apps are not generally available in this area. If you would like to apply but do not have your own car, please indicate that in your application. We will reach out to talk through your needs.
