Artist Residency Program
Facilities
Housing
Graylag Nature Preserve spans 300 acres of stunning woodlands, meadows, and bogs, set on the 100-acre Wild Goose Pond. The preserve is crisscrossed by a network of trails, providing an opportunity for gentle walks or longer hikes through Graylag’s meadows and hilly, rocky terrain.
Artists will be housed in The Perch cabin, a small, private cabin with its own fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. This thoughtfully designed space, where rustic charm meets cozy comfort, offers artists the opportunity to reconnect with simplicity and natural beauty. The cabin features rustic wood floors, clever craftsmanship, and a delightful loft for reading or reflection. Every corner has been curated with care—vintage treasures and nature’s artifacts create an atmosphere of timeless tranquility. At day’s end, the clever Murphy bed transforms the main living area into a peaceful sleeping sanctuary. The bathroom, though compact, delights with its classic claw foot tub—perfect for long, luxurious soaks after a day of outdoor adventures. The cabin is well appointed with bedding, towels, linens, dishes, cooking equipment, and toilet paper.
Additionally, Graylag provides communal spaces—indoors and out—where artists can interact with visitors or fellow residents. Nestled within the grounds are two communal fire pits, delightful land art and sculptures, a peaceful waterfront, and rich native gardens. Canoes, kayaks, and other watercraft are available for use, providing the opportunity to explore Wild Goose Pond. Artists will have access to a serene, self-sufficient retreat with the ability to connect with nature in a variety of ways.
Food
Artists in residence will have access to a fully equipped private kitchen and a charcoal grill, allowing them to prepare their own meals at their convenience. Residents are responsible for purchasing and bringing their own food (and charcoal for the grill) for the duration of their stay. While the residency provides a peaceful, self-sufficient retreat, grocery stores and other amenities are a short drive away.
