The Cousy Years
Menu
Celtics legend Bob Cousy was an owner of Camp Graylag from 1953 to 1971.
During his time at Graylag, Cousy was also a point guard for the Boston Celtics (1950 to 1963) and the Cincinnati Royals (1969-1970). He was the 1957 NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP), and a 13-time NBA All-Star. While he was on the Celtics, the team won six NBA championships. Bob Cousy was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1971.
Bob’s star power brought hundreds of campers to Graylag. Check out this ad from the 1950’s!
Bob Cousy was an active part of daily life at the Camp and he, his wife, and their two daughters spent their summers here for nearly 20 years. In 2024, Bob recorded a video celebrating Graylag’s 75th anniversary and the dedication of our remaining half basketball court as the “Bob Cousy Court.”
