Meet Ina May Wool

We are very excited to announce Ina May Wool as our first Artist in Residence of 2026!

We are grateful to have such an accomplished artist joining us in August, and we look forward to working with her. She will be performing and explaining her creative process here at Graylag during her residence, check our program page for more information!

Several years ago Ina May Wool started writing a song about a little girl who meets Abe Lincoln. She had written songs and sung them since childhood, but this one grew and changed into a partly historical, partly autobiographical solo show called Lincoln and the Little Girl – her first play! It’s had two sold-out workshop performances in New York City, including one that earned a standing ovation at the prestigious NYU Tisch School of the Arts.

Ina May grew up in Marblehead, Massachusetts, and served her musical apprenticeship playing guitar and singing blues, country, folk, and her own original songs in bands and solo all around New England, across the country and in Europe. After moving to New York she sang on everything from movie soundtracks and TV commercials to Off-Broadway shows and all kinds of concerts. She’s released three albums of her own original songs, the most recent (“Rewrite the Ending”) recorded at home during the pandemic. Her songs are played on radio stations all over the world. She also loves teaching creative writing workshops.
