Meet Christine Andrews
2026 Graylag Artist Residency
We are excited to have Christine Andrews join our 2026 Artist in Residence program! She will be in residence at Graylag in October, and will be running her program, Discovering New Hampshire Forests, a nature journaling workshop, during her stay. More updates will be posted soon!
Christine Andrews lives in Deering, NH and is an ecological artist and educator who draws inspiration from her deep connection to New Hampshire’s forests and natural areas. After initially pursuing art in college, Christine’s curiosity led her to earn a biology degree. Her fieldwork, which included tracking mammals and studying forest ecosystems, continues to inform her artistic practice. Christine’s work has been featured in juried fairs and exhibitions across New Hampshire and Maine. She is a juried member of the New Hampshire Art Association and will be a guest artist at the 2026 League of New Hampshire Craftsmen Fair.
Christine’s goal as an artist is to encourage curiosity and a deeper appreciation for our forests. Christine creates ink and acrylic paintings of New England landscapes layered over collaged trail maps. Her inspiration comes directly from her time on the trail where she regularly sketches with ink pen and watercolor to capture the details, rhythms, and energy of the landscape. She intends to create a ‘captured moment’ in her finished works that honor the resilience, character and ecological relationships within the natural environments, but also hints at our time in landscape. Vibrantly colored, transparent India inks convey the energy she feels while out in the forests and are layered and mixed directly on a collaged map surface. The maps remain visible as a constant connection to place.
